I have been longing to see this restaurant after tasting some of the best Japanese food at its sister restaurant Meshiya Hashiba, so on Christmas Eve, instead of staying home for a traditional Christmas dinner, i.e. pretending to be white or ABC, we got ourselves a table at Danzhou.
The restaurant is located on level 3 at the Palm Springs Plaza, tatami matted throughout, with half screens and Banzai art carefully placed between tables, the place was homey and warm with a dash of zen. ( I was most impressed with their custom-made, minimalistic and practical cabinets.)
Most of the staff were Japanese-speaking Chinese girls, maitre d was of course, an elder Japanese lady who seemed to know all the Japanese guests. Like Meshiya Hashiba, the menu was not fully translated into Chinese or English, and ever since New Year's party my memory of the past year has been a bit blurry, so instead of giving a detailed recap of each dish we had, I am just gonna post the pictures here.

The best caramel pudding eva! It has just the right amount of sweetness, bitterness and softness.

Red bean paste with sticky rice cake.

The very authentic Japanese chef at the sushi bar, watching him slicing tuna was as fun as eating them.
The highlight of the night was definitely when we finished eating, paid for our bill and the maitre d presented me with a small gift bag, a special treat for all the ladies who dined on Christmas Eve, pack of green tea flavored chocolate, how touching! Closely followed by, when we actually left, the maitre d and another girl followed us to the lift and gave us a full-on 90 degrees bow which I'd only seen in Japanese movies, and they kept that posture for a long time, til the lift door closed. God that was awkward.
